About Our College

Shri PHG Municipal Arts & Science College was established in 1961 under the aegis of KTKM (Kalol Taluka Kedavani Mandal) which was the only established Educational Institution in and around Kalol in the Post-Independence era. Under the dynamic and progressive leadership of KTKM Managing Trustee and General Secreatary, Shree Prafulbhai Talsaniya, the whole of the campus is getting the facelift it badly needed so long. The campus and the premises are getting modernised with a lot of amenities for the student community. His vision and mission to provide a quality infrastructure will enrich the future generations.

Shri PHG Municipal Arts and Science College is now under the Gujarat University was one of the earliest colleges in the State of Gujarat after Independence for higher education. The College is named after Shri Prabhagiri Harigiri Goswami whose generous and timely financial contribution made this college a reality for the progress of the generations then. At present KTKM has a number of Educational Institutes from Primary education to Post-Graduate Courses within its Campus.

Shri PHG Municipal Arts and Science College is a progressive initiative by the Jain & Vaishnav Community to cater to the higher educational needs of the citizens from diverse background, especially the underprivileged communities of the villages in and around Kalol located in North Gujarat, now in Gandhinagar District. The Jain / Vaishnav Community’s motto of ’’Parasparopagraho Jivanam” which means ‘the function of the soul is to help one another’ is practiced in the day to day working of the Institution. The College also incorporates the Jain ideals of good deeds, non-violence, non-absolutism and non-possessiveness thus creating all-inclusive holistic development of one and all.

The College situated in the KTKM Campus has a large land area of 9.52 acres wherein most of the Educational Institutions share the common amenities offered. The College is a Grant-in Aid Institute and is recognized by the University Grants Commission. The Institution was accredited by NAAC in the year 2008 and again reaccredited in 2015 with a B grade. The College has both Arts and Science Divisions with Seven Under Graduate Programmes and One Post Graduate Programme. The college has 30 permanent faculties out of which 24 are PHD holders and 5 are PHD guides and 3 are members of Board of Studies in the Gujarat University. Many Professors have an extensive list of publications in National and International Journals. The College also runs a few courses of Dr. B R Ambedkar Open University. The College also boasts of a good Reference Library, Cricket Ground, Sports Complex, an Auditorium and two Language Laboratories in its vicinity. BAOU centre is also functional in the campus catering to the needs of the people who are serving and getting degrees through BAOU.
